Chemistry Club Activities 2000-2001

An organization from the family of Chemistry,Chemistry Club started during the academic year 2000-01.The first general meeting was held on 17.8.2000.the Co-ordinators were P.K.Indira,P.K.Sreekumar and P.Sayudevi.Executive members for the club were elected in the meeting.They are,

The first Executive meeting was held on 23.8.2000.In the meeting ,we discussed about the plans and purposes of Chemistry Club.

The formal inauguration  of Chemistry Club was held on 11.10.2000 by the Principal A.G.Vijayakumar. A class was conducted on the same day by Dr.T.N.Vijayakumar,HOD Of Zoology Department.A welcome party was arranged for freshers. Seminars were conducted on every Fridays. They were,

•     On 10/11/2000 by Jisha EP on the topic `Fullarene`.

•     On 17/11/2000 by jyothi on `Furnaus used in metallurgy`

•     On 1/12/2000 by Vinod on `Immunity`

•     On 8/12/2000 by Jisha on `Personality factor`

•     A new year celebration was their on 3/1/2001

  Chemistry Club 2005-06
  
  
  A general meeting was held on 17/8/2005. Executive members for the academic year 2005-2006 were elected. It was decided to organize a quiz competition, and to publish News letter and magazine.

   There was a seminar on 11/10/2005 by chemistry student,Unnikrishnan on the topic `Impact of illegal mining of black sand`

  An executive meeting was held on 18/12/2005 to decide how to organize X`mas celebration.

X`mas was celebrated grandly on 22/12/2005 by various cultural programes, and exchanging gifts and sweets among the family of Chemistry. On 19/1/2006, there was a trip to Century plastics Vettekkod, in order to learn the production of house hold articles . There was a study tour to Silent Valley National Park on 14/2/2006.

                                       

                                  Chemistry Club 2006-07

A general meeting was conducted on 18/8/2006. In the meeting , Executive members for academic year were elected. Dr.Sayu Devi gave description about the Chemistry Club. In the meeting, it was decided .

• To publish Nobelium, Magazine, Scince File  etc..
• To arrange a reading room in the department.
• To collect a fund of Rs.5/- per maonth.
•  To organize various programmes like welcome party, association, Onam celebration, New year celebration and farewell party etc…
• To organize an exhibition in co operation with other departments .

The inauguration of Chemistry association was held on 23/8/2006. There was an Ayurvedic seminar and publication of science file on the same day. Pricipal Mr. Jayakumar inaugurated the function and chief guest Dr.C V Sathyanadhan presented the seminar. According to him our new life style and food habits are the main reason of most of the diseases. Metals and plants are having important role in the Ayurvedic treatments. It is a traditional , most important branch of medicine. There fore, it have  to be promoted by those, who are aware about it.

 Onam celebrations were conducted on 30/8/2006. Members of chemistry department participated in all the programmes , which were conducted as part of Onam celebration. We won first prize in Onappattu and Vatam vali. A welcome party for the freshers was there on 27/9/2006.

           There was an executive meeting on 6/10/2006. In the meeting, it was decided to publish a magazine ‘Elements’. The duty to collect details about each elements were divided among the students . There was a factory visit on 20/11/2006 by Chemistry club.

                      A quiz competition was conducted on 24/11/2006 among chemistry students. The  questions were from both chemistry and general knowledge. New year was celebrated on 4/1/2007. Principal Mr. Jayakumar inaugurated the function. Club members and teachers exchanged gifts and new year messages.

                                               Chemistry Club 2007-08

There was a general meeting on 7/8/2007 to elect executive members of the chemistry club for the year 2007-2008. There was a discussion of the club programme, threat were conducted in the last year. In the meeting, it was decided

• To organize seminar, debates, quiz competitions etc..
• To publish science file and Nobelium
• To collect a fund from club members
• To conduct pear group teaching on September 5, Teachers day.
• To conduct discussion on viral fever by a doctor

An executive meeting was held on 10/08/07. It was decided to organize Alumni functions and to invite old students for the function. Discussions were made about to exhibition.

Onam celebration was there on 23/8/2007. All students participated in all functions. Chemistry   department got second place in ‘Onappattu’.

 A welcome party for the fresher’s was there on 10/9/2007. All teachers and students enjoyed the programmes performed by fresher’s. Science file was published in the same day.

There was a function on 15/10/2007 to congratulate P.K  Indira teacher, who have achieved doctorate in physical chemistry. All teachers and students offered felicitations . Indira teacher said that, all chemistry students should try to achieve doctorate in future. For this, we have to work sincerely. Then there was a quiz programme.

 There was a sent off function for the attender, who have been working for 25 years. It was on 30/11/2007. Students and Teachers offered felicitation to him. On 6/12/2007 there was an awareness class in Kussalakkunnu nursery . Different waste to reduce plastic wastes, disease caused by irregularities of metals in our body etc.. were discussed. Teachers students, nursery teachers and parents actively participated in the discussions.

New year celebrations was on 1/1/2008. Principal inaugurated the function and different cultural programmes, exchanging gifts etc.. were taken place. Alumni meeting of the year was there on 12/1/2008. After self introduction, each and every one shared there experiences and memories.

 An Alumni meeting of 1986-89 batch was there on 10/2/2008. All of the came with their family. Different programmes were there by them and family members. It was a fabulous experience. A poster exhibition was there on 14/2/2008. The posters were based “Tsunami “, “water pollution” and “disease caused by the metals”. The afternoon section, there was a class by a alumni member Mr. Sajeesh, who have been working in water authority. The class was on the topic “water quality control”. Then a nobelium and booklet of scientist were published. Sajeesh sir invited the chemistry students to visit the quality control lab Malappuram.

 The farewell party for attender Gopi  and third year students was on 28/2/2008. Teachers , students and other department teachers were there in the programme . All of them offered a good future to all and students shared their ever lasting memories and experiences with them.

                                         

                                                  Chemistry Club 2008-09

A general meeting was held on 3-10-2008. Dr.PK.Indira,HOD of department of chemistry explained about the activities of chemistry club. In the meeting ,we decided to,

• Publish Nobelium and science file for the current year.
• To conduct an awareness class based on the misuse of plastics.
• To organise a personality development class
• To organise a project
• To organise a national seminar

Welcome party for the fresher's was on 24-10-2008.Icebreaking session was the main attraction. All fresher's taken part in the programmes. There was an executive meeting on 31-10-2008. The National seminar was the main agenda. The general meeting was held on 5-12-2008, following discussions have been made,
• To bring articles for science file and the nobelium
• Decided to organize a quiz competition
• Decided to organize various programmes like inauguration of association, new year celebration and seminars etc.
Inauguration of association was on 4-2-2009.Mohanacrishnan was the chief guest. He discussed about the importance of Chemistry in our life. Then the science file and magazine and magazine were published. Then he discussed about "Chemistry and Poetry", by his poems. In the afternoon section, there was a seminar on "Science and society" by Sreedharan sir. There was a class on 'production of soap' by Jisha and Riswan at Kasarakkunnu nursery .It contains discussion about different types of soapes,TFM,difference between sodium and potassium soaps and demonstration of soap making. The function ended with cultural programmes of children.
